There were some very prominent rappers that met in the Hills in LA. They were offered stock in a very strong military complex. They had to promote violence, drugs, and everything else you can imagine.
This is going to be a heavy episode, but one worth listening to.

This is a lesson I taught back in 2012.
What I've learned is if you want to have great friends, you have to be a good friend.
You have to make it all about the good friends.
I've watched Ed Mylett and he skillfully makes every conversation about the people even if they're complimenting him.
He gets it.
If you want people to like you, make it about them.
Make sure you like people's posts.
If I'm going to have a big social circle, I have to be engaged with a lot of people.
I have a lot of people jockeying for their attention.
But I still vie for their attention because I still want to be their friend.
I'm not talking about paying their bills.
They're the ones asking how the kids and wife are doing.
They're the ones checking in to see how things are going.
That's what makes a good friend.
Be a great friend if you want to have good friends both online and off!

I was doing some research the other day on changing out some things in one of my businesses.
I asked ChatGPT what the number one struggle entrepreneurs face and it gave me one of the best answers.
It's not usually the business, it's the weight of the business.
Carrying the responsiblity alone.
Clients.
Partners, and employees may not fully understand the sacrifices made like balancing life and business, making payroll, cutting relationships that no longer support the business.
I created Apex so I could be surrounded by people that understood the challenges in my life.
I might be really good at marriage, but others are better in business.
Get surrounded by really good people with different skillsets than you.
Help those who don't have your skillsets.
Work to become better for you so you can be better for everyone else.
And help them.
That's what Apex is.
And I'm going to continue to build on that because I know it's something every single entrepreneur needs.

The most expensive thing that everybody does is chase the new thing instead of mastering the old.
When something is new, you don't know anything about it.
You think it's going to be easy, but as you get into the day-to-day, you realize it wasn't that easy.
I've had people come work for me for 3 months and quit.
The next person comes in and gets their book of business and makes a killing because they didn't stay consistent enough doing the boring things every single day.
The marketplace gets to know you and your brand by repetition and consistency.
The next time you feel the need to chase something new, stop for a minute and ask if you've mastered what you're currently working to success.
Stay focused and be consistent.
The success comes in doing the most unsexy things.

I've been through a lot in my life.
Adoption.
Prison.
Divorce.
As an entrepreneur, you're going to go through some stress.
Everything that happened to me prepared me to be an entrepreneur.
I've had slow months.
Been audited by the IRS.

I just had a guy come out and quote me on building a fence out at my place.
He went through everything and we agreed upon a price.
Well, a few days later, he came back and asked me if I wanted the fence painted.
I said, "Sure."
And he replied, "Okay, I'll that'll be an additional XYZ dollars."
I thought that was discussed in our original meeting, but he told me it would be an additional charge.
Okay, I see that happening one time, but he kept coming back.
He hits me with a "And that's not including the additional supplies."
I finally stopped him and said, "man this was all part of our original agreement, but now you're hitting me with almost a quarter more."
So many business people do this and wonder why they're clients get pissed.
I am the type of person who likes to stack all my services and offerings in one list, and include them in the price.
No upsells.
No gimmicks.
No hidden fees.
There's only a few reasons this happens:
Word of advice to you if you're conducting business this way..........
Quit fucking nickel and diming people.........
Try including everything you said you would do in the initial quote and stick to that number.
If you work in an industry where there can be unexpected changes, charge a little more to cover your costs with the condition that if something outside the scope of the service quoted comes up, additional fees may be required.
Try that and see how if it affects your business.

One of the biggest truths about life is we're emotional beings.

Gather round for another parenting storytime.
This one is something that's happened to most parents at one point or another with at least one of their children.
I usually keep a little cash on hand in the event we need something.
I went to dig into the stash cause there's something Amy wanted and I noticed there was some money missing.
We have maids, nannies, and people at the house but didn't want to go accusing anyone, so we started asking the boys.
I called all 3 of my boys outside and told them there was some money missing.
Did any of you take money from my room?
Asher: "No."
Jax: "Yes."
I told them that money was theirs. They worked for it, but all they had to do was ask.
I told them, "If you want something, don't just take it."
I continued by telling them "Guys, your word is your bond and if I can't trust you and you can't trust me, then what are we doing here?"
They aplogized and understood, but let that be a lesson.

I was talking to my eldest son Jax the other day, and he said, "Dad, I got an idea of something you can talk about on your podcast."
I said, "Okay, whatcha got?"
He said, "What's the true key to success? I know it's staying focused and fighting the force of average, but what is the true key to success?"
I told him he had it all figured out and I had a proud dad moment, but he said he didn't quite understand what that meant, so I broke it down like this:
Focus + Don't Quit = Win.
Thomas Edison blew himself up 10,000 times before he got it right.
He was out trying to figure things out.
Blew things up.
Burned his barn.
Can you imagine your 10,000 attempts at something and you're still not right?
He finally figured it out.
Imagine the railroads.
People from other countries who didn't quit building the railroads. (Now we have transportation)
The railroad wasn't built in a day.
People today think they need some sort of instant success.
Solve a problem or objective.
Work to solve the problem.
Don't quit.
That's the true secret to success.
That one attempt made by Thomas Edison set their family up forever.
Start thinking like that and you'll never have to worry a day in your life.

I was talking with one of my employees Monico the other day and something amazing happened.
I won't share the details, but it was something you would call a miracle.
It was a miracle.
Unexplained circumstances that worked out better than I could've planned.
And the only thing I can reconcile as what happened was something called Godfidence.
That confidence to act as if it's already been granted by God.
He made you and me.
Every single idea we get is from God, so I feel it as my obligation to put action to every single idea I get. (Well, most of the good ones).
Our creator made us in HIS image.
He doesn't want me to fail.
Most people rely on themselves saying things that aren't true like, "I'm not good enough, I can't do it, blah, blah, blah."
If I still relied on myself, I'd still be in jail.
Divorced.
Broke.
So, I ask God how I can do things.
And I trust him because I know he GODs my back.
He's got yours, too!

I've been a father for 13 years at this point.
And beyond learning how to be a better person, came the challenge of becoming a better father, but there's a simple fact you have to remember as a parent.....
We don't stop growing when we become parents.
And we don't stop growing when the kids leave the house at 18.
This is a lifelong journey we take with our children.
Year 8 is going to be different from year 13.
Year 13 is going to be different from year 17.
Experiences, challenges, and lessons are all products of the parent-child relationship.
And guess what, you'll never completely master it as long as you are continuing to build upon the solid foundation you established.
If the foundation is wobbly right now, assess where you can make changes.
Be better.
Be patient.
Invest the time to teach with compassion.
Show them the right way and the best way to do things.
If you don't know what is the right way, think about the parents you respect the most.
They'll share their secrets.
Whatever you do, don't quit.

Do you know why most people are scattered?
Because they don't schedule shit.
When I was a kid, we didn't have cell phones, gps, or anything beyond a clock and our personal commitment to being responsible for getting to where we needed to be and on time.
Why?
Because if we were late, we got our asses whipped.
So I always made sure I was always 15 minutes early.
If you're not 15 minutes early, you're late.
When I started my business, I had to have a more organized way to get things done on time and on schedule.
When I got married and started having kids, I needed to make sure I made time with my children, my wife, and family obligations.
As I was juggling everything, I had to be more protective and strategic with my time.
And I made a new rule.....
If it wasn't on my calendar, it wasn't real and didn't get done.
I urge you to take this on as a policy in your life.
Schedule things.
Schedule time.
And if it doesn't fit into the box on your calendar, it's not getting done that day.
If you want to get more done and be more productive you have to be more strategic with your time.

Time in does not equate to produced results.
Here's what most people do.
They start working in their profession for 6 months and 10 years later, the only thing they have is repeating the same thing they learned in the first 6 months of their career.
They stop growing.
I go to the gym with people who have been going to the gym for 8 years and are still fat and out of shape.
Sure, they still make it to the gym, but they have not ascended to learning more, eating better, and getting in better shape 8 years later.
That's what most people do.
I have a young lady that works on my finance team and she's been working in her field for 2 years, but has done more for me in the last 6 months than those I've hired in the past with 20 years experience.
It's because she is learning and growing herself in her profession every single day.
So, before you work with someone who claims to have 10, 15, 20 years experience, have them take you through every element of their journey in their profession and ask for the receipts.

What does it take to build the right team in your business?
It's a question most business owners don't ask.
Most operate from a place of finding bodies, outlining job titles, and negotiating wages and putting them to work.
This frees up your time and headaches and gets you out of doing the menial tasks you hate doing or ones that are not a good use of your time.......but.........
This is sloppy.
Without strategic intention in who you hire, you're going to experience drama, high turn over rates, and an overall chaos.
I've had 50 people on my team at any time.
I've had middle management and no matter what happens, my message and vision always gets muddled in the process.
In most cases, it's not even close to what I said to begin with.
What I've learned is I am great at managing smaller teams.
I've had to hire and fire 20 people to find 5 good ones.
My process to hiring and building teams involves getting everyone on The G Code.
Reading a new book every single month.
These days you don't need hundreds of employees to make millions of dollars per year.
You just need the right people with the right skill set and the ability to execute on a singular vision.

Left lane drivers who drag ass at 57 miles per hour are some of the most selfish, self-centered pieces of shit on the planet.
I can say that because they're not a protected class.
You know the type.
They think it's cute to drive 5 miles below the speed limit in a lane intended for going 10-15 over it and it fucks up traffic.
They don't care.
Hell, it doesn't even register that they're the cause of traffic slowing down and in some cases, they're on the phones and in other cases, they're the cause of accidents causing further delays in the process.
This is just one of the ripple effects caused by a society that has been programmed out of caring for others.
Look at our media outlets, social media, and every day engagements........we have stopped caring about other people.
Stopped holding doors.
Stopped saying "thank you."
"Please."
This is a direct result of blockages instituted by the systems that educate our children and a society that has promoted the ideologies of those who want absolute control.
How do you conquer and divide people? Cut off their communication.
We have been cut off from our source of energy and power.
Rubber soles.
As you know, rubber inhibits the flow of electricity and energy.
I challenge you to break with what's become convention and get back to connecting with other people.
It starts with caring.
We can't take anything with us, but the things we do for people will grow our souls.
Remember, soles can take you where you need to go, but caring and connecting for and with other people will help grow your soul.

For many years, I chased other things on this planet.

It's no secret that humans are conditioned to look for the negative.
The constant battle against negativity rages every single day.
Print.
TV.
Social media.
We can't get through our days without some negative news trying to penetrate our mentality.
What happens when we're faced with negativity is our brains are positioned to fight or flight.
But, what if there was a way to break out of this.
There is a way, and it takes focus, consistency, and practice.
And it's possible to do it easily.
The first thing you have to do is correct the trigger when you want to dive into the same stream of negativity the world brings you.
If someone wants to argue, find a way to diffuse it, no matter who is right or wrong.
When someone comes in and throws things into chaos, don't accept it as a problem you need to solve.
In moments of great stress, and negativity, motivate yourself with love, gratitude, and abundance.
When you rewire your mind against its nature, you can operate from a place of love.
It's going to take some work, but when you do, watch the world you create change right in front of your face.
Most of the things we worry about never come to fruition.
Follow the path of inpenetrable positivity and let life flow.

The biggest tin foil hat conspiracy theory we all need to pay attention to is we humans have the ability to think and exist in a bigger way.
From a young age, we're programmed to play smaller.
Why would we do this?
First off, control.
When a colt horse is a colt or a pony, you can tie it to the reigns and to a poll.
Once it realize it can't break free from the pole, it stops fighting.
The reigns are removed and now, they're tame.
The same goes for humans.
If you think you can do something or you can do something, you're right.
How do you do bigger things?
It's simple.
Goaling and regoaling.
If you want to make one million dollars.
Goal number one is $100,000.
Goal number 2 is $250,000.
Goal number 3 is $500,000.
And so on and so forth.
It takes time to hit your goals, but you can't go from 0 to a million.
If you want to make $100,000, you have to make $300 a day.
Set an attainable goal.
Reach the goal.
Reset the goal.
Rinse and repeat.

I don't like being told what to do.
I bet you don't like being told what to do.
No one on this planet likes being told what to do.
But, there's something great about being here.......
We have one another.
We have the wisdom and knowledge of those who have lived, gotten experiences, and learned lessons we haven't.
Most people don't tap into that because their egos don't allow them to do so.
Have you ever had someone come to you telling you how to do something different?
They may have said, "What you should've done, or what you should do....."
Or maybe, they've said, "You're doing it all wrong...."
The ego has an adverse reaction to this, but imagine, you sat and listened for a moment to what they're trying to tell you.
Now, let's say you applied what they suggested.
Imagine it actually worked.
It doesn't make you less intelligent.
It doesn't make you incapable of operating your own life, it's simply a correction from the universe to help you improve your direction during your journey.
Next time you recieve correction, take it as your direction to the shortest path to success.

By the time I met my wife, Amy, I was already 3 times married and divorced.
I had one child, my son, Jax.
I was tapped out on marriage, divorce, and everything that comes with it beyond heartache including financial loss.
Well, to my surprise, when I met Amy, I told her straight up.......
I'm not down with mariage at this point.
But over time, as I got to know her better, I learned she had never been married.
And so as we grew, I came to see there might be a possiblity of me getting married to her.
It's not like I was getting younger.
She's everything I'm not and I figured, I can't go wrong with that.
But I also realized part of the reason my first 3 marriages failed was because I was in them.
Well, when we decided to say yes, we didn't come up with a pre-nup.
We came up with a Marital Operating Agreement.
It words a bit better and there are some hard accountability measures and agreements you have to make in order for the marriage to work.
In this episode, I'm going to break down every single element of our marital agreement from our personal health, raising children, infidelity, managing business, assets and everything you need to consider before you take the plunge.....especially when 62% of marriages are failing.
